A Louisiana Parish has announced that they are giving the controversial Redflex Speed Van program the boot. Officials from Livingston Parish said recently that they will discontinue the use of the Speed Van program effective immediately and cited many reasons. The final straw though was when a speed van driver illegally parked on private property and was subsequently towed. The Parish was also not happy that they had to refund over 2400 tickets unfairly issued when a van parked on a small stretch of road where the speed limit suddenly drops from 70 to 60 mph. WAFB has the complete story.
The speed van controversy isn't only in Livingston Parish however, the Lafayette vans have also had their share of opposition. As we reported back in May, the vans have been physically attacked and a class action lawsuit has been filed.
