The deadline for bids to purchase the old Pecan Island High School that we told you about in June was this past Wednesday and the Vermilion Parish School Board has announced that they did not receive the minimum acceptable bid. The reserve price was $750,000 but they only received 1 bid in the amount of $250,000. The school features an indoor Olympic-sized swimming pool, outdoor track and shop and by law the School Board can't sell a property for less than it's value so it's still for sale. Marsha Sills with the Advocate has the story.
