Fore!

Maybe there are some golf fashions that should be outlawed. And there are definitely some swings out there (duffers, you know who you are) that could be considered criminal. But a series of break-ins at area golf courses has prompted the Lafayette Police Department to issue this press release:

Suspects Target Acadiana Golf Courses
Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department and area agencies are asking the public assistance in identifying those individual who are responsible for burglarizing several area golf courses. The suspects are targeting the business offices of the courses and removing any money found inside. The first incident occurred on May 31, 2009 and the last incident occurred on July 4, 2009.

Below is a list of the dates and golf courses that were targeted:
May 31, 2009, Spanish Trail Golf Course – Cade, LA
June 14, 2009, Acadian Hills Golf Course – Lafayette, LA
June 15, 2009, The Farm Golf Course – Lafayette Parish
June 20, 2009, Atchafalaya Golf Course – Patterson, LA
July 4, 2009, Indian Hills Golf Course – St. Landry Parish

Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department, St. Mary Parish Sheriffs Office, St. Martin Parish Sheriffs Office and St. Landry Parish Sheriffs Office have exchanged information on the incidents and believe the burglaries are related. Anyone with information on any of these incidents is encouraged to contact their local Law Enforcement Agency or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
