Free workshop: Green Building is a Moral Obligation
On July 29th Acadiana residents can attend a free workshop presented by the Diocese of Lafayette on green building and the moral impacts of climate change. The workshop is made possible through a grant from the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change and is intended to demonstrate that green living isn't only good for the world, but it's a moral obligation as well. Robert Gorman, director of Catholic Charities Houma-Thibodeax issued this statement “Religious congregations have a special interest in this workshop, because we will discuss both the moral and financial aspects of sustainable building practices. We really want religious staff, leaders and members to attend in addition to construction supervisors and the general public.” The workshop will feature speakers Virginia Burkett, chief scientist for Global Change Research at the U.S. Geological Survey and Steve Picou from the LSU AgCenter. The day will conclude with a tour of the UL BeauSoleil House. Click here for the story from the Lafouche Parish Daily Comet with more details.
