Budget Cuts Proposed for Non-Profit Agencies

The Times-Picayune picked up this Daily Advertiser / AP story with more details on the Lafayette City-Council's proposed budget cuts to area non-profit organizations.

From the article:

According to an ordinance set to be introduced Tuesday night, the funds
would be phased out over the next three fiscal years. The agencies would receive
$452,723 in the 2009-10 year, but that figure would drop to $294,269 in the
2010-11 year and $158,453 in the 2011-12 year. No moneys would be allocated
beginning in the fiscal year 2012-13.

The agencies, formally known as non-governmental organizations, include groups such as the Acadiana Symphony, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Faith House, Healing House, the Lafayette Council on Aging, and other groups.
