Free Rain Barrels!

Bayou Vermilion District hosts a free Rain Barrel workshop every last Saturday of the month on how to create and decorate a 55 gallon rain barrel that is yours to take home at the end of the day. Space is limited to the first 20 registrations though, so please visit their website for more information on how to sign up. And ok, we do realize it's been pretty dry here lately and a rain barrel would most likely sit empty, but hopefully by the time they have the workshop, we'll have some rain to put in the barrels.

  1. How cool is that! I want a rain barrel. But yeah - we need some rain to put in it.

  2. I suppose the goal here is to capture rain water for use later, when it's not raining, correct? Is there provision for mosquito abatement in the process? I thought it was a big no-no to have any kind of standing water down here in mosquito land.
