Grant And Smith Good To Go

Nakia Hogan reports for the Times Picayune that Saints' players Will Smith and Charles Grant have been cleared to play this weekend against the Detroit Lions in the season opening game. A federal appeals court in Minnesota has yet to give a ruling upholding or overturning the suspensions, nor has it given a timetable for when it may deliver a decision. From the article:
But the league made the decision not to suspend the players this weekend, allowing both the Saints and the Detroit Lions, their opponent at the Superdome on Sunday, ample time to properly prepare for the game. Saints Coach Sean Payton said on Monday he was confident the league wouldn't enforce those suspensions if a ruling is made late in the week, because the Saints would be too far into game preparations to adjust.

It appears this will continue until the court reaches a decision.
