We at The Daily Meaux do love a good nutria story. Remember the Walmart lady that was attacked by one in Abbeville? Well, this one comes to us courtesy of the Daily Comet in Lafourche Parish. They are reporting that during this nutria season, which runs from November 20 - March 31, trappers killed over 334,000 of these destructive, marsh-eating rodents. In the coastal areas of Louisiana the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries pays trappers $5 per tail they bring in, so about $1.67 million this season. That's a small price to pay though for our safety and the preservation of our wetlands and coastal areas. And besides, it sounds like a pretty good 2nd job. We found Nutria Traps available HERE for sale in case you want to make a few extra bucks next season.
