
At the risk of losing my
free case of Drank before it's even been offered, it seems there's been a bit of controversy regarding the new beverage. Shane Griffis, writing for the Ponte Vedra Recorder points out that Drank gets its name from a known drug reference. From the article: "Drank" is a play on "Purple Drank" a recreational drug popular within the hip-hop community. The main ingredient in "Purple Drank" is prescription strength cough syrup containing the drugs codeine and promethazine. This cough syrup is then mixed with Sprite. Although the commercial "Drank" beverage does not contain these ingredients, it has not been without controversy. Critics have referred to the beverage as "Weed in a Can" and claim the herbal combination is dangerous. Read the rest
