$4.12 Electric Bill

Mary Scheps of Lafayette was featured on WKRG News in Mobile for being Lafayette's first resident to generate all her electricity from solar panels. In fact, she generates almost double her usage and is able to put about 180kw hours back on the grid, so now her electric bill has been reduced to just a $4.12 service fee per month. Scheps said the panels cost about $26,000 but because there are so many incentives and tax credits available right now, it ended up only costing about $6000 for the whole system.
