Community Develpment Grants Awarded
Many area towns will receive more than $10.5 million in Louisiana Community Development Block grants, the governor’s office announced Friday. The LCDBG program provides funds to help strengthen community development, revitalization, and private investment, which will benefit at least 51% low and moderate income persons and will help eliminate or prevent slums and blight. Approved projects include: $800,000 to both Duson and Sunset to construct community centers, $600,000 to Abbeville for road improvements, and over $900,000 to New Iberia for sewer system improvements. The Advocate has a complete list of projects, and if you want to see more about the Community Development Block Grant program is, visit their website here.
