Paddle Battle

There was a pretty lively debate this week in the House Education Committee. Representative Barbara Norton from Shreveport introduced a bill to ban paddling in schools. Many committee members argued that "corporal punishment" was necessary but many also agreed it can be taken too far. One member even recounted that his son was paddled so forcefully in Kindergarten that it left bruises. The bill may not live through this session though as it only has a week to get through the House, a Senate committee and the full Senate.
