There was an article recently on Mashable.com, a social media guide, about a new kind of sports rivalry taking place and the strategies universities are using for social media. Specifically, they talked about a press release that Texas A&M put out about how many Facebook fans they had. At the time of the release they had the second most number of fans, but now A&M has surpassed #1 LSU with almost 65,000 fans. LSU is not that far behind though, the Tigers have a little over 62,000 facebook fans.
