New Police Substation
This little house on the corner of Apple and 13th street is the new home for a Lafayette City Police substation. According to Jason Brown's article in today's Advocate the city owned home has been mostly vacant for the past several years but now the police have stepped in, spruced it up, and use it on a daily basis to maintain a presence in the neighborhood and to have a place where officers can go do to paperwork, etc. Brown notes that in the past 3 months there were 15 thefts, 14 traffic crashes, 10 simple criminal damage to property reports, eight burglaries, seven narcotics complaints, two simple assaults and two car thefts all within a quarter mile of this location.
