It's Pulitzer season, but I'm guessing this gem of investigative journalism won't be receiving any awards. There's not much story here, but lots and lots of ignorance. Hard to say which is worse, the petty bickering and violence of the folks being interviewed, or KATC for running it.....or me for re-running it here. If you can make it to the end of the video, you can almost see Hoyt Harris questioning how his career brought him to this point. If it's any consolation to Mr. Harris, I ask myself that very question on a daily basis.
P.S. To our chagrin, KATC begins and ends the video with a 15 second ad...... much like the ads we would sell if we were a real news organization.

Settle down now, DM. Everyone was just doing their respective jobs here:
ReplyDeleteThe stoop sitter was exposing an injustice, KATC was exposing a new hire to the "What's the Point?" hazing tradition (deliver a story like this one without throwing up) and you were exposing the fact that there is no point to most local news stories. But, golldarnit ... the point be damned! There WILL Be Hotness! I'll bet you that by next week's follow up to this story, Sweet Melissa here will be sporting giant dangling earrings, a halter top and just enough 'he was like, I was likes', 'absolutelys' and 'basicallys' to pass for a native.
